It’s a common misconception that the goal of yoga is to totally silence and empty the mind. Many of us have had the experience of trying so hard to think nothing at all during meditation, that our mind fights back, and our imagination and anxiety come roaring back with a vengeance.

What we are aiming to do in Kundalini Yoga is to train our mind to grab hold of our unique creative force, and direct it purposefully towards what is important in our life.

When we are able to do that, obstacles become opportunities to problem solve, flex our creative muscles, and discover what our life is actually calling us to do.

This is the Path of the Artist – to become like a horseback rider, seize the reins of the creativity our unique life experiences have granted us, and leverage its energy to gallop towards greater meaning and purpose.

In this class series, you’ll clear the channels with your breath, and use powerful yoga techniques to activate your creative force in your body & mind – then you’ll use deep meditation and mantra practice to train yourself in focusing and directing that energy towards what is important to you.

Important Guidelines

Important Guidelines: Any person with a known medical condition should always consult their physician before engaging in yoga practice. Women who are menstruating (on the first 3 days of the cycle) or are pregnant should avoid breath of fire and other exercises that powerfully engage the naval center like Sat Kriya. Inverted poses where the legs are lifted higher than the naval point should also be avoided. Long deep breathing can be done in the place of breath of fire. Resting in child’s pose or savasana, during poses like stretch pose, is also encouraged.
