Important Guidelines: Any person with a known medical condition should always consult their physician before engaging in yoga practice. Women who are menstruating (on the first 3 days of the cycle) or are pregnant should avoid breath of fire and other exercises that powerfully engage the naval center like Sat Kriya. Inverted poses where the legs are lifted higher than the naval point should also be avoided. Long deep breathing can be done in the place of breath of fire. Resting in child’s pose or savasana, during poses like stretch pose, is also encouraged.

Important Guidelines: Any person with a known medical condition should always consult their physician before engaging in yoga practice. Women who are menstruating (on the first 3 days of the cycle) or are pregnant should avoid breath of fire and other exercises that powerfully engage the naval center like Sat Kriya. Inverted poses where the legs are lifted higher than the naval point should also be avoided. Long deep breathing can be done in the place of breath of fire. We’ve all heard the famous Buddhist adage, “I want answers and I want them now.”
 
That’s what living in the present means, right?
 
“If I sit here long enough and just think hard enough, I will solve everything for everyone.”
 
Eureka! Prosperity: A world free of problems.
Take a look at Class 4; it’s called True Opportunity & Building Trust.
 
But, trust in what? Trust in me to intellectualize our way out of this mess? I’m working on it.
 
We’re building trust in ourselves! Trust that no matter what happens in this world- a world that feels about as reliable as a Millennial with his parents’ platinum Mastercard- that we’re going to be okay.
 
That’s a kind of a trust that no one, no circumstance, no situation, no emotion can take away from us. What could possibly be more valuable than that?
 
Something about listening to Jai Dev talk instills us with the sense that things might turn out okay for us. His words, like any great orator, have a way of making me feel at home here on planet Earth.
 
But when words alone are not enough, we have powerful Kriyas to bring us the rest of the way. It’s a STRONG set this time around, my friends. No one said building trust would be a cakewalk.
 
The opportunity is in the potential to overcome. And overcome we shall! With our sweat, our tears, our crisscrossed legs, all worn with a gritty smile.
 
If we can do Kriyas, we can do life. If we can do Kriyas, we can do our lives with Love. If we can do Love… we can do anything.
 
And if all else fails, there’s still a chance I succeed at thinking my way into our collective salvation. However, I recommend taking Class 4 just in case.

Important Guidelines: Any person with a known medical condition should always consult their physician before engaging in yoga practice. Women who are menstruating (on the first 3 days of the cycle) or are pregnant should avoid breath of fire and other exercises that powerfully engage the naval center like Sat Kriya. Inverted poses where the legs are lifted higher than the naval point should also be avoided. Long deep breathing can be done in the place of breath of fire. Resting in child’s pose or savasana, during poses like stretch pose, is also encouraged.

You know when you keep saying a word and eventually, it stops sounding like a word?
 
Prosperity. Prosperity. Prosperity. Prosperity. Pros…perity. Pros…per…it…y.
 
A bunch of sounds, mashed together, in an attempt to communicate meaning… Whoa. Language. What a trip, bro.
The point is we won’t understand prosperity by simply repeating the word.
 
The point of that is that prosperity isn’t a word. Prosperity is an experience and that experience can mean and BE a thousand different things to a thousand different people.
 
It could mean a thousand different things to you depending on the day.

So what do you want your prosperity to be? It’s a pretty important question to ask ourselves.
 
They say the path to “hell” is paved with good intentions… but I’ll be damned if the path to “liberation” isn’t paved with those exact same stones.
 
The difference in our eventual destination is how we put that intention into action. That’s the real Kriya, yogis.
 
It’s how we stay attuned to something altruistic so that when we generate energy through our sadhana, we can actually use it for something that alleviates even a little bit of suffering in this world.
 
That’s why a good teacher is a precious commodity- they help keep us focused on the larger context of our spiritual work.
 
In Class 3 of this series, Jai Dev delivers, as he often does, a refreshing level of depth. His poignant words ‘pull us under’, tumbling us in the waves of eternal wisdom.
 
As students, it is our job to swim back toward the surface- our effort inside the Kriyas spits us out onto the shore of an embodied and experiential understanding.
 
We always survive. And we are stronger, grittier, and more subtle for every ounce of adversity we have overcome along the way.
 
That’s the gold. That’s the wealth we seek. Character. Caliber. Connection with the Infinite. The treasure is the process of becoming the totality of ourselves.
 
Let us not forget we are not trying to emulate anyone- not even our dearest teachers. They aren’t themselves the light. They are the lighthouse that holds the light that keeps us on course when think we’ve lost our way.
 
That’s the great misdirection of a masterful guide- the moment the relationship unravels because we realize that the only reason we followed the light in the first place was that we recognized it as our own.

Important Guidelines: Any person with a known medical condition should always consult their physician before engaging in yoga practice. Women who are menstruating (on the first 3 days of the cycle) or are pregnant should avoid breath of fire and other exercises that powerfully engage the naval center like Sat Kriya. Inverted poses where the legs are lifted higher than the naval point should also be avoided. Long deep breathing can be done in the place of breath of fire. Resting in child’s pose or savasana, during poses like stretch pose, is also encouraged.
