Divine Magnetism

There are so many directions we can take in each moment with a thousand distractions or temptations to lure us away from our true purpose. How do we determine what is dharmic and what is distraction? It takes a focused listening to our intuitive knowing. To hear, trust and follow that intuitive voice takes an understanding of how our mind works with magnetism. When we understand the negative mind, the positive mind, the neutral mind, and how they quickly work with or against each other, we can move beyond the trap of mental discord and reach the meditative mind. The meditative mind is the magnetic mind, for it is from here that we can really discern what we are attracting and what we are repelling in our lives. The meditative mind also gives us the perspective needed to let go of the things that are not serving us, in full trust that what we release will be returned to us in a form more suited to our destiny. Then we can come back to the three most important questions of our lives, shared in the quote above, and when we leave this world we will know that we fulfilled our ultimate purpose.

Important Guidelines: Any person with a known medical condition should always consult their physician before engaging in yoga practice. Women who are menstruating (on the first 3 days of the cycle) or are pregnant should avoid breath of fire and other exercises that powerfully engage the naval center like Sat Kriya. Inverted poses where the legs are lifted higher than the naval point should also be avoided. Long deep breathing can be done in the place of breath of fire. Resting in child’s pose or savasana, during poses like stretch pose, is also encouraged.

Of course, it’s relative to wherever you’re at, the space you are developing is not relative to someone else. It’s relative to you. It has to be a scientific experiment, it’s individual and relative to you and you.” -Jai Dev Singh

While yoga may lead us on what could be considered a religious path, it is really more of a path of artistry and science. Artistry in the terms that we are cultivating a true beauty in everything we do and holding a reverence and respect for the Beauty that expresses itself in the world. Science in the sense that we are experimenting and recording the results and experiences that arise from this experimentation. If something doesn’t work for us after a thorough exploration then we will set it aside and pick up instead something that will work. We bring the same methodology and discipline of any good researcher to our practice so that we can be very present with the results of our work.
It is this combination of artistry and science that leads to true self-mastery. It is a process for each one of us that unfolds in our own unique time and unique way. We can never accurately compare our results with another since there is just no comparison!

“If it is only the negative mind and the positive mind that are being utilized in order to understand and experience, you never end up with a true perception of what the experience actually is. The first aspect of the mind that responds to any situation is the negative mind. The negative mind is the protective aspect of the mind. It asks the question, “how may this harm me?”, to any stimulus that triggers it. The positive mind, asks “how can I use this to my advantage?”. The mind constantly swings between these two polarities

However, it is only the meditative mind, the neutral mind, that will tell you the reality of the situation. Those who fail to develop the mind’s meditative power remain dominated by negative and positive projections and rarely experience the dharmic joy of life.

Important Guidelines: Any person with a known medical condition should always consult their physician before engaging in yoga practice. Women who are menstruating (on the first 3 days of the cycle) or are pregnant should avoid breath of fire and other exercises that powerfully engage the naval center like Sat Kriya. Inverted poses where the legs are lifted higher than the naval point should also be avoided. Long deep breathing can be done in the place of breath of fire. You develop spiritual magnetism first and it will easily transfer to worldly magnetism and it will be placed in its proper context for your life and will be used properly.

Important Guidelines: Any person with a known medical condition should always consult their physician before engaging in yoga practice. Women who are menstruating (on the first 3 days of the cycle) or are pregnant should avoid breath of fire and other exercises that powerfully engage the naval center like Sat Kriya. Inverted poses where the legs are lifted higher than the naval point should also be avoided. Long deep breathing can be done in the place of breath of fire. Resting in child’s pose or savasana, during poses like stretch pose, is also encouraged.

Divine Magnetism

There is a simple concept for us to hold as we journey through these teachings on Magnetism. It is this: all things are magnetic. All things have a pole to attract and a pole to repel. All things are meant to draw towards them that which is needed and to repel anything that is not needed. This does not happen at the superficial level of our thoughts but at a deeper praanic level. So as yogis, we must cultivate a much more subtle level of reality to do the wonderful work of Divine Magnetism.
